Why Church Matters: Learn to Lead

“VOTE FOR SO AND SO WHOSE A PROVEN LEADER”

What does that even mean? Whether it’s the news, work school or family leadership effects every realm of life. Leaders can make our lives positive and easier or miserable and harder.

Why church matters?  A healthy church can become a community where you and your family can learn to lead.  What is a proven leader in Gods eyes?  Could the perfect son of God and Lord of Lords know what being a transforming leader needs to be?  We almost never see that possibility because all our ideas and examples of so called effective leaders come from the unbelieving culture not Jesus.  Throughout the history of Christianity we have imitated the world’s leaders. We have acted as and followed tyrants, kings, generals, rock stars and CEOs.

Almost every sad and shameful chapter in the history of the church was led by well-intended but worldly modeled leaders.  A few times the disciples of Jesus learned and led the way he taught and lived.  Those have been the high points in history and in any church.  The temptation and tendency to get our models of leadership from the culture go back to the start. Jesus’s prohibition to doing so also goes back to the start.

Please read this passage and consider the questions as you prepare to come Sunday.

Blessings,

Joe
