Seeing God Through Fathers

Fatherhood has tragically been portrayed in an increasingly negative way. You can hardly watch a Hollywood drama without the father being portrayed as a patriarchal control freak or ridiculous dunce. These typecast are only eclipsed by the more serious dramas that caste fathers as negligent or abusive. The open season on fatherhood is to some degree self-induced. Many fathers fail to recognize their power for good and their responsibility to do it. Many men are ignorant of good models and isolated by shifting roles.

This Sunday’s message is titled “Seeing God Through Fathers.”  In spite of the imperfections of fathers, God reveals Himself through dads in a special way. Every dad has the ability to change the world through being a truly godly father.  This is hard work, but it is work that must be done.  We all need fathers to model and point us toward the one true and perfect father being God Himself.  For you fathers, exercise your power for good by bringing your family to church this Sunday  For you children of fathers, help your father become the best man he can be by praying and bringing him to church Sunday.

I can’t wait for us to see together how God reveals Himself through “Seeing God Through Fathers”.
