Loving God in Reverse: Lying Tongue

Dear Friends,

Thanks to all you who came, listened and responded last Sunday. Changing the way you look at others and yourself effects every area of life. If the way we look can reveal our heart, our words will broadcast our heart. Words are powerful for good or evil.

This Sunday I will talk about one area God says must be dealt with if we will walk in truth.

THE LYING TONGUE

Sometimes we must back up and deal with things before we can move forward in love. I really hope you come this Sunday and bring someone along. Be honest, you can make it if you want to can’t you?  I really think this will be a freeing day! Truth always sets us free.

Blessings, Joe

Preparing for Sunday

PLEASE PRAYERFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING SCRIPTURES AND CONSIDER THE QUESTIONS

Pro 6:16 there are six things which the LORD hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.

Pro 12:22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, But those who deal faithfully are His delight.

Rev 22:15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

QUESTIONS:

  • How has being lied To affected your life?
  • When are you most likely to lie?

Pro 10:19 When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise.

Pro 17:27 He who restrains his words has knowledge, And he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.

  • How can practicing silence help protect against lying?
Pro 17:28 Even a fool, when he keeps silent, is considered wise; When he closes his lips, he is considered prudent
  • What are common ways people lie?
  • How can social media contribute to a culture of lies?
  • What can families do to break a family culture of dishonesty?

Eph 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ,

Eph 4:25 Therefore, laying aside falsehood, SPEAK TRUTH EACH ONE of you WITH HIS NEIGHBOR, for we are members of one another.

Jas 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
