SERMON LETTER

Whenever I get ready to do something I always make a checklist.  I want to make sure I am ready for the journey ahead. I want to know where I stand so I can make adjustments.

God wants you to mature and become the most stable version of you.

How can you know how you’re doing?

How can you check to see if you need to make changes?

This Sunday, I will show you how Peter wrote us to give us a checklist.

CHECKLIST FOR MATURITY AND STABILITY.

I really hope you come so you can move forward in becoming rock.

Blessings,
Joe

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

1Pe 3:8-12, To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit; 9not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing. 10For, “THE ONE WHO DESIRES LIFE, TO LOVE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, MUST KEEP HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT. 11HE MUST TURN AWAY FROM EVIL AND DO GOOD; HE MUST SEEK PEACE AND PURSUE IT. 12FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE TOWARD THE RIGHTEOUS, AND HIS EARS ATTEND TO THEIR PRAYER, BUT THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE WHO DO EVIL.”

  1. Why is being able to get along with all kinds of people important for a stable mature Christian?

1Pe 3:8, To sum up, all of you be harmonious.

  2. How can noticing needs and caring make us like Jesus?

Mat 9:36-38, Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. 37Then He *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38

Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”

  3. What does it take to make friends?  Why is this hard?
  4. How do people show kindness? Share an example.
  5. What does humility sound like and act like?

    1Pe 3:8 To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted, and humble in spirit;

1Pe 5:5-6, You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE. 6Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,

  6. Are you a forgiving person? How can that show maturity? What does it mean to be forgiving?

1Pe 3:9, not returning evil for evil or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead; for you were called for the very purpose that you might inherit a blessing.

  7. Why is controlling words so important and hard?

1Pe 3:10, For, “THE ONE WHO DESIRES LIFE, TO LOVE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, MUST KEEP HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT.

  8. How can we pray for you specifically?
