SERMON LETTER

Dear Friends,

As I said last week, stop focusing on electing the answer to America’s problems. The answer isn’t running. “He’s already Lord.”  The answer to what is wrong in this country is also the answer to what is wrong in you and your family.

The need of a life transforming encounter with God that can change us. This transformation cannot happen unless we make use of the means of God’s grace.

(Rom 1:16-17) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. (17) For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”

We must believe the gospel and believe in the gospel. “…for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes,” -Romans 16.  We must believe the gospel and share it.  I am praying that you are praying, loving and inviting your one for this year.

This Sunday and next I will preach on how to be a powerful witness of hope.  If we are going to do our part and be witnesses, you will need to really know and apply this.

I can wait to see you Sunday. Make a contact and invite your one.  Let’s see what God does.

Blessings, Joe

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

  • DESCRIBE AN EXPERIENCE WHERE YOU SUFFERED FOR DOING WHAT WAS RIGHT AS A WITNESS?

1 Peter 3:15-17 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; (16) and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame. (17)For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.

  • HOW DID THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST PROCLAIM TO THE UNBELIEVERS BEFORE THE FLOOD?

1 Peter 3:18-20 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; (19) in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, (20) who once were disobedient, when few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.

1 Peter 1:11-13 seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. (12) It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven–things into which angels long to look. (13) Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

  • HOW DOES THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST BEAR WITNESS NOW?
  • IN WHAT PRACTICES DOES JESUS PROMISE HE WILL ALWAYS BE PRESENT WITH US IN?

Mat 28:18-20 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (19) “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, (20) teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

  • WHY WAS BEING BAPTIZED AS A BELIEVING DISCIPLE SO MUCH A PART OF JESUS’S PLAN TO REDEEM THE WORLD?
  • DESCRIBE HOW YOU WHERE BAPTIZED AS A BELIEVER AND WHAT EFFECT IT HAD ON YOU AND OTHERS?
  • WHAT HOLDS PEOPLE BACK FROM BEARING WITNESS THROUGH BAPTISM?
