HIS-Story-The Ways Of Jesus

Dear Friends,

We are to be apprentices of Christ. We are to imitate Him as we depend on the Holy Spirit. This is hard to discern. What were the things Jesus made a priority in His time on earth? How did Jesus relate to His culture and the common practices of His day?

What can we learn from His life? These are the questions that are needed to follow Christ. We study His story so we can apply His lesson as God gives us strength.

The next several Sundays will be given to learning how to look for these practices from Luke’s gospel.

I really hope you will come and bring a friend. In learning to read God’s word with an aim of following Christ’s example we will grow and glorify God.

Blessings,

Joe

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

Preparing for Sunday, February 23, 2020- “The Ways Of Jesus”.

Please read the scriptures and answer the following questions.

These questions will be discussed in small groups or in the 9:30 service.

1 John 2:6 The one who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk in the same manner as He walked.

Give an example of how to try to imitate Jesus in your words and action?

Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 And walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

1 Corinthians 11:1 Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Christ.

How do you know how you should speak or behave?

What can the practice of Jesus teach us about gathering to learn and fellowship?

Luke 4:16-17 And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. 17 And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written.

Was it required for Him to agree with them on everything?

Luke 4:16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read.

Luke 4:31 And He came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and He was teaching them on the Sabbath.

How did Jesus deal with demons and evil?

Did he look for it?

Luke 4:35 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people, he came out of him without doing him any harm.

What most fills your thoughts and conversations?

Describe a time where you were amazed by Christ?

How did you respond to your amazement?

Luke 4:36-37 And amazement came upon them all, and they began talking with one another saying, “What is this message? For with authority and power, He commands the unclean spirits and they come out.” 37 And the report about Him was spreading into every locality in the surrounding district.
