HIS-Story-The Last Adam

Dear Friends,

This chapter tends to not be people’s favorite bible readings. We get tangled in the begets and get tongue-tied with Hebrew names no can be sure how to pronounce correctly. But God included genealogies in the scriptures for a reason.

This Sunday we will learn how God shows how Jesus Christ was fully connected with all of us in the human family.

The first human failed but Jesus is the last human who will lead us safely home.

This Sunday we will see how in a real way Jesus is our kinsman and our redeemer.

Also, we will have a baptism in the eight A.M. service. We may have others who want believer’s baptism in the other services. If you are one of them let me know and we will make sure you are ready.

Blessings,

Joe

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

Preparing for Sunday-January 26, 2020 – HIS-Story-The Last Adam

Please read the scripture we will study and

discuss the following questions.

Luke 3:23-38  When He began His ministry, Jesus Himself was about thirty years of age, being, as was supposed, the son of Joseph, the son of Eli, 24  the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph, 25  the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Hesli, the son of Naggai, 26  the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda, 27  the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri, 28  the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmadam, the son of Er, 29  the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, 30  the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim, 31  the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David, 32  the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Salmon, the son of Nahshon, 33  the son of Amminadab, the son of Admin, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah, 34  the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor, 35  the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Heber, the son of Shelah, 36  the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, 37  the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Cainan, 38  the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

How does Luke’s Genealogy connect all of us?

Luke 3:22 And the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased.”

Luke 3:38 the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

In what way are you connected with all people through the first Adam?

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

How does this make all racism and other sin made divisions unimportant?

How does Christ as the last Adam make a difference for us?

1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ, all will be made alive.

1 Corinthians 15:45 So also it is written, “The first MAN, Adam, BECAME A LIVING SOUL.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.

In what ways does Christ become a life-giving spirit?

Describe the ways Christ has brought life to you.

John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Romans 5:17-20 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Romans 5:18-21 So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men. 19 For as through the one man’s disobedience, the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. 20  The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21  so that, as sin reigned in death, even so, grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

How can we pray for you?
