The Two Reasons We Don’t Deeply Change

Dear Friends,

The hardest step to take is the first step. It is only after the first step that we really have to depend on God to change us. When God calls us to obey in some area we need His grace to obey.  How do we get the strength that comes with grace?  We exercise faith by taking the first step in obedience.  So often we learn and study seek advice and yet never act on it.  Jesus speaks to us in many ways. When He tells you what to do what you do next says everything about what you really believe.

Let me give you some examples.  Let’s say you are angry with someone and you read or hear this word.

Eph 4:26-32 BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil an opportunity. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.
What will be the response of faith?

You must take the first step and grant forgiveness immediately.  This Sunday I will show you the top two reason why sincere religious people don’t see powerful renovations of their souls.  Please pray for yourself and for me. Make every effort to come and listen or if you are out of town to listen or watch it on the internet.  You can access the online messages by clicking here.

Be sure to invite someone and ask them to sit with you.  The best way to make Sunday THE LORD’S DAY is to start getting ready now.

Blessings,
Joe

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

Mar 1:16-20 As He was going along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 19 Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets. 20 Immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went away to follow Him.

  1. When did, these men have faith?
  2. Describe an experience where you were sure God wanted you to do something and what happened.
  3. What is the connection between faith and obedience?

Joh 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has eternallife; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

  4. What is the way the soul of a true disciple grows?

Rom 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.” When the bible says

Eph 4:26-27 BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.Eph 4:31-32 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

  5. What will be the response of faith?
  6. When the bible says “Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.” (Rom 15:7), How does the devil deceive us into not really following Christ.?

2 Co 11:3-4 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. 4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.

  7. How can we pray for you specifically?
