Shaken

Dear Friends,

So much has happened in the last few weeks it’s hard to know where to start.

We are all in a place we have never been. At no time in our lives have we seen such a shaking in every area of our culture.

If you feel overwhelmed, I can understand it.

If you feel rattled it is completely understandable. Someone said I feel bad for staying away from people, but I am in a group that is vulnerable to get sick.

I said don’t feel bad. Do the most loving thing and do all you can to keep from getting sick.

For those who are younger and healthier, you too must practice social distancing. Watch out for your loved ones by doing what our leaders say.

This is really hard as your pastor for nearly forty years, I have never told you to stay away from the church.

Normally in crisis times, we are called together to comfort, encourage and pray for each other now we are told to stay apart.

This has shaken everyone in one way or another.

This Sunday I will share a video with a talk called “SHAKEN”.

Please plan to watch this together with your household.

I will give you three really important things you must do in times of shaking when feeling shaken.

PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO THIS SUNDAY, MARCH 22nd.

Please read these questions below and talk about them with those in your household (please include kids if possible). Remember everyone in your home has a different perspective so work to hear each other out.

Please respond online when you have watched it.

If you live alone call a friend and invite them to watch so you can discuss it together.

You will be able to get the video by clicking this link.

We are here for you and love you.

Joe

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING VERSES AND CONSIDER THE QUESTIONS

Luke 6:46-49 “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? 47 “Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: 48  he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. 49  “But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation, and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.”

What happened this week that most surprised you?

What has been shaken around your life this week?

What emotion have you felt most this week?

What can we learn or relearn during this crisis?

How can you show more humility?

What is one thing you could do to serve others in your home? Neighborhood?

Please share one thing you are grateful for this week.

How can we pray for you?
