“Serving it Up” – Week Three

Dear Friends,

This week we will be talking about attitude. Attitude can change everything in your life.

Attitude is the angle in which we see and think about things.

Php 2:2-5 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. 3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; 4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.

The Greek word can be translated as mind or attitude.

φρονέω

phroneō; from G5424; to have understanding, to think: – adopt…view (1), conceited *(1), concern (1), concerned (1), feel (1), have…attitude (3), intent on…purpose (1), live in harmony (1), mind (4), observes (2), set their minds (2), set your mind (1), setting your mind (2), think (3), views (1).

If you will ever serve as Christ wants, you must seek to have His mind or attitude. Seeking the mind of Christ can change your feelings about giving service to others.

Php 2:3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.

It is hard to serve others we resent and look down on.

Php 2:4-8 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. e life of Christ helps us measure how we are to live.

We cannot do this on our own we need the Holy Spirit to work deeply in us to change our desires and the output of our lives.

Php 2:12-14 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. 14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing.

This Sunday we will try learning how to seek to live each day with the attitude of Christ.

Blessings,

Joe

PRAYERFULLY READ THE SCRIPTURES
AND CONSIDER THE DISCUSSION QUESTIONS.

INVITE SOMEONE TO COME WITH YOU.

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

Who do you have the hardest time serving? Why?

Php 2:3 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves.

Why is hard to serve others we resent and look down on.

Php 2:4 do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.

How can remembering the life of Christ change your attitude?

Php 2:5-11 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Eph 5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her.

How do your workout Gods presence in you?

Php 2:12-13 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

How does attitude affect our words?

Php 2:14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing.

How has attitude affected your witness?

Php 2:15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world.
