Maintenance and Security

Dear Friends,

Getting your renovation project done doesn’t mean you don’t have to do maintenance and security.
If that’s true with your house it’s even more true with your soul. God moves in the moment we repent in faith. He comes in to make all things new. He begins to work from the inside out and he includes you on the work crew.
For if you live in this earthly dwelling you will need to guard your heart from the forces that will damage and destroy your soul.

THIS SUNDAY I WILL FINISH MY SERIES ON THE RENOVATION OF THE SOUL.

I will teach you three great dangers you must guard against. Any one of these will burn your life to the ground and destroy both your witness but your entire community. You and I must recognize these in ourselves and our culture our we will be easily swept away into disloyalty to Christ.

Please, Please, come with an open mind and an open heart. I can’t wait to see you.

Blessings,
Joe

STEPS TO PREPARE

PRAY FOR THE SERVICES AND FOR YOURSELF
AND ME AND THE OTHER TEACHERS.

PRAYERFULLY READ THE SCRIPTURES
AND CONSIDER THE DISCUSSION QUESTIONS.

MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND A PREACHING SERVICE AND A SMALL GROUP.

INVITE SOMEONE TO COME WITH YOU.

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

  1. Why is guarding your heart so essential? Pro 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.
  2. Why does God hate pride and boasting?

Pro 16:5 Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Assuredly, he will not be unpunished.

  3. How can anger consume and change a person over time?

Eph 4:26-27 BE ANGRY, AND yet DO NOT SIN; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not give the devil an opportunity.

  4. How can anger be used to manipulate others?
  5. How can a sincere follower of Jesus be biased and act with prejudice toward others??

Luk 9:53-56 But they did not receive Him, because He was traveling toward Jerusalem. 54 When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” 55 But He turned and rebuked them, [and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of; 56 for the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”] And they went on to another village.

  6. Do you agree or disagree with this statement: “The most prejudice people don’t think they are.”
  7. How can prejudice limit our ability to share the Gospel?
  8. Why was it so miraculous that Saul of tarsus became Paul the apostle to the gentiles?

Php 3:4-7 even though we can list what many might think are impressive credentials. You know my pedigree: 5 a legitimate birth, circumcised on the eighth day; an Israelite from the elite tribe of Benjamin; a strict and devout adherent to God’s law; 6 a fiery defender of the purity of my religion, even to the point of persecuting Christians; a meticulous observer of everything set down in God’s law Book. 7 The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I’m tearing up and throwing out with the trash–along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ.

  9. Why is working to accept others so important?

Rom 15:7 Therefore, accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God.

  10. Where do you have work hardest at practicing humility and gentleness?

Mat 11:28-30 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

  11.  How can we pray for you? {Please explain in under one minute}
