Dear Friends,
We all have a life to honor in many ways. we, of course, are reminded on Father’s Day to honor our fathers as scripture repeatedly commands. We, in fact, are commanded to honor father and mothers. The honoring of elders is an idea that has fallen out of favor in our youth-obsessed culture.
The message of this age seems to be “get out of the way we have our own perspective and no time to waste listening to you.
This is a great blunder people have come to regret repeatedly. Our elders though flawed have much to teach us. The bible has a core ethic that says ……
“You are given a life to honor God and everyone and everything He has made .”
What does it mean to honor? Where and how do we start?
This Father’s Day we will learn and explore how to live a life to honor.
I really pray for you to come. Being with others takes some effort but even that is an act of honor. Your presence is an encouragement and an opportunity to strengthen yourself and others.

Define honor?
Mark 7:6-13 And He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘THIS person HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. 7 ‘BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.’ 8 “Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.” 9 He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition. 10 “For Moses said, ‘HONOR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER’; and, ‘HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER, IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH’; 11 but you say, ‘If a man says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is to say, given to God),’ 12 you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother; 13 thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that.”

What are the ways we can honor God?
1 Titus 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
1 Samuel 2:30 “Therefore the LORD God of Israel declares, ‘I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father should walk before Me forever’; but now the LORD declares, ‘Far be it from Me–for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed.
Why is that important?
How can we honor parents?
Matthew 19:19 HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER; and YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
How can you honor your parents if they are already passed away?
How can we treat people with honor when they are not honorable?
1 Peter 2:17 Honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.
What are some ways to show honor for others?
What are ways you can you teach your children or grandchildren to honor everything God has made?
Revelations 4:11 “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed and were created.”
