“40 Days of Prayer”- Week Three

Dear Friends,

Thanks to Pastor Scott for Preaching Sunday and for Bill Creapau’s great words. The break gave me a little chance to recover from my car crash last month.

This week we will talk about “THE PURPOSE, POWER, AND PRACTICE OF PRAYER.”

We can all learn more when it comes to prayer. Some people wonder since God knows our needs before we ask why to pray?

This Sunday we will come to clearly understand why God wants us to pray and how He pours out His grace on those who do.

Sadly, many religious people turn prayer into a set of rules and end up worshiping a bunch of principles rather than the LIVING GOD. This happens in part because walking in intimacy with God is too present for us to control the relationship. Sometimes people spend all their time focused on the future return of Christ while living in the present as though he doesn’t exist.

This is how people talk about the principles of loving God and others while not loving either in their present life. This Sunday I will share a truth about prayer that has really changed my life.

I really hope you come.

Love you,

Joe

PREPARING FOR SUNDAY: SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

We are starting our third week of “40 Days of Prayer”. This Sunday during Sunday School and Small Group hour we will be studying session three pages 67-89 in your 40 Days of Prayer Book. The small groups on Wednesday evening and Small Groups throughout our community will also be studying Session Three this week as well. Don’t forget to do your daily prayer journal after each session, this will help you focus on what God has to say to you each week during your prayer time. It can be a big blessing to your week. Don’t forget to share with someone about what God is teaching you in the study. Encourage others who haven’t found a small group yet to join one.

If you haven’t plugged into a small group as of yet, please check the list in the foyer by the church office and find one that fits your schedule.
If you would like to host a small group, contact the church office by calling 360.864.2550 or email to office@toledofirstbaptist.com

If you haven’t picked up your prayer book yet, we still have plenty available in the lobby.
