Sunday Services:
Dear Friends,
It’s hard to get unstuck from spiritual laziness. All you can do is take a first step out of the muddy ditch you are currently in.
Many of you have done that by saying you want to commit to serve God by building up His church in some way. Some of you have also taken a second step by committing to start tithing and giving. Some of you have taken a step by committing to weekly church attendance rather than hitting and missing. Others have committed to inviting, welcoming, and listening to new people. Some have committed to help teach a class, run sound, or help in preschool.
You may never have committed to church membership, and you still need to do so. You may need to be committed to daily prayer. There are endless ways to serve. You may ask why do I have to commit? God-directed commitments are how you grow in faithfulness. We grow in faithfulness by making commitments and then keeping them even when it’s hard. Remember, faithfulness is the measure of a mature person of faith.
Matthew 25:21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’
1 Timothy 1:12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He considered me faithful, putting me into service.
It is my job to do all I can to present you mature.
Colossians 1:28-29 We proclaim Him, warning and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. 29 I labor for this, striving with His strength that works powerfully in me.
Your part is to move from an attitude of a customer to that of an apprentice and servant of Christ.
This Sunday, we will explore what spiritual maturity looks like.
Can’t wait to see you.
Joe
