Dear Friends,

There is a reason rooted in history and tradition for Christmas being a celebration of Light. It starts in the gospels.

John 1:1-5  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2  He was in the beginning with God. 3  All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4  In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5  The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

Jesus said later….

John 8:12  Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

This world has much darkness. You may be going through a dark time or find yourself in a dark place.

This Sunday will show you a way out of darkness. The Light you need is not a principle but a person. He alone offers you light from without. The Light you need can’t be found within. The Light you and I need is like the dawn.

Matthew 4:16-17  “THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT, AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH, UPON THEM A LIGHT DAWNED.” 17  From that time, Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

This Sunday, Light will come for you and your friends. I know this because Light has come into the world to shine in darkness and lead us home.

Start preparing now to gather for learning and worship. Invite others to come with you. Plan to go to breakfast and class with your children at 9:15 am. Pray for yourself and others that they will receive light and truth.
