Sunday Services:
Dear Friends,
Being unemployed can be very devastating to a person and their family. People find meaning and a sense of purpose by having a place to work. This also benefits both the person and their family. Helping young people find meaningful employment is a step toward maturity and responsibility.
This has a spiritual parallel. Spiritual unemployment also had destructive consequences. When Jesus’ apprentices are unemployed, the downstream effects are devastating. The role of a church family is to equip each saint to be employed in service. When we neglect that or even worse replace that with entertaining them, we stunt their souls, and people never grow up in Christ.
Spiritual unemployment or underemployment is emptying churches and filling stadiums. We are replacing evangelism with eventism, and the results are crowds, not transformed lives in Christ.
This Sunday I will teach on an amazing solution. Full employment for every member of TFBC.
1 Peter 4:10-11 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
What could this look like if we all embrace this vision? This is not my vision for the church. This is God’s vision for His church. Let’s listen and see what He will do if we put down our illusions and join His vision.
Can’t wait to see you.
Joe
