Be Known – Britton Update

Hey all, Britton here!

Firstly, I just want to say thank you so much for all of the kind notes, words and generosity you gave to me!  It is so amazing to have a church family as loving and caring as all of you.

What a busy week it’s been!  From unpacking/setting up my apartment to getting all my school docs all in order, it’s been pretty non-stop!  I actually just got back from a field trip GFU (George Fox University) put on for all of us new people during what they call “Welcome Weekend”.  We basically all loaded up on 17 different school buses and then convoyed over to this little amusement park about an hour away and just hung out together.  I’ve already met some really cool people and am so excited for classes to start this upcoming Monday (Still feels so weird saying that I’m excited for classes!)

I love how this college focuses on this idea to “Be Known.”  It’s kind of cool and really fascinating to think about.  In scriptures, Jesus talks a lot about this idea of  being known, most notably in the Sermon on the Mount…

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16

It’s really what this college is all about.  Be Known.  Be that light.  Let your love for Jesus be evident to all.

It’s almost convicting in a way.  I can’t help but ask myself “how have I made Jesus known through myself?”  or “What have I done to stand out to glorify Jesus Christ?”

Just some fun thoughts.  anyway, I Love all of you and I’ll do my best to keep in touch with you all and let you know how things are going.

Love always,
-Britton
